  1. In my opinion: The sheer number and variety of styles, books, videos with "feckless" talk on how to get "internal" is a testament to the unfulfilled desperation of the search for it. What a great word is "feckless" and we can thank the Scottish and British for it (effects + less). In my opinion: Taking the time to give an explanation of how to "get it" shows that you care about students, that they're important to you, and that what you want to communicate is also very important.

  2. Classical Small Frame (Circle) Tai Chi Form, https://classical-tai-chi.teachable.com/ , has many dimensions. These Youtube videos try to show some facets of it:

  3. I too recall Ike saying something similar about "…fist…making contact…jing rushing out…" in making Tao of M.A. with you. I show students that clenching the fist tightly at any time tenses arm so much it makes it difficult to move the arm, even move other parts of the body much less move "internally" for fajin. I would say a close up of your fist as well as what I said about your arm would reveal an open fist aka a fist "like holding a bird's egg" prior to encountering resistance. I don't spar with students or do much in the way of push hands, just a lot of "Form" and also find myself able to move students off their feet using "long duration" fajin from my own disadvantaged positions, also using 1-inch punch with "birds egg fist" on heavy bags, and students holding really thick pads.
